Founded in 2003 by Benjy Grinberg, the Pittsburgh, PA label Rostrum Records has been developing and releasing the next wave of Urban and Pop/Rock artists.
With huge success by Rostrum’s own Nitty (Rostrum/Universal Records) and Wiz Khalifa (Rostrum/Warner Bros.), the label has gone on to sign much anticipated artists Scott Simons, S. Money, and the resurfaced 1988 “Top Shelf” recordings (Big Daddy Kane, Grand Puba, MC Lyte, etc.).
While Wiz Khalifa prepares to be the new face of Hip Hop in 2008, tastemakers and radio PDs have been catching. Wiz's single "Say Yeah" is climbing the charts and the press has been buzzing. With features in Rolling Stone, XXL, Allhiphop.com, Vibe, and his video debuting on MTV Jams, Wiz will be sure to put Pittsburgh on the map and the industry in check.
Scott Simons' highly anticipated debut "The Start of Something EP" will feature all new original material highlighting Simons' unique sound of synth and piano-driven melodic pop.
Scott has been signed by major independent publisher Bug Music/Windswept, and, as a songwriter, Simons' is managed by Sandy Roberton at World's End Management in Los Angeles. Scott has been working with and writing for artists on Mercury, Island Def/Jam, Atlantic, Epitaph Records and more.
S. Money is the newest addition to the Rostrum camp. The 22 year old rapper is a legend on the streets of his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. He has collaborated with major label artists and DJ’s such as Bun B., DJ Kay Slay, Peedi Crakk, Don P, and MC Eiht. He has sold thousands of mixtapes as a solo artist, as well as with his crew The Govament. S. Money's most recent project, New Money, was released in early May.
Rostrum Records’ main focus is on artist development. This emphasis has been the driving force behind the label’s current success.
